I also appreciated your critical review of the Jungle Effect. This blog and rawfoodsos are a breath of fresh air in the diet discussion.

It's funny, the two aforementioned blogs I've found with the most rigorous thinking and writing on the topic of human diet and nutrition also have the fewest specific diet recommendations and the most supportive tone, framing it as a "personal journey" and process instead of an absolutist "right diet/wrong diet." Such criticism helps me to mold my own thinking.

I just remembered something about the spreadsheet ranking the nutritional breakdown of whole foods. All of the categories were done for 200 kcal servings, except for Calories, which of course would be silly. The Calories category is done for 100g servings.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18290594860469294453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7721098568390636553.post-52829348927537576222008-10-06T07:21:00.000-07:002008-10-06T07:21:00.000-07:00Stephan at Whole Health Source blog had a nice pos...Stephan at Whole Health Source blog had a nice post on the clinical evidence (admittedly limited) for the thinking I outlined above. For example, total fat consumption has not increased in the US, only vegetable fats have. Animal fats have decreased. The author of the article didn't understand the USDA data he was looking at. I wrote them a letter to the editor about it but they didn't publish it. I posted on it here:

http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-media-contribute-to-our-health.htmlStephan Guyenethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09218114625524777250noreply@blogger.com
