Have We Reached the Tipping Point?

A very quick post here. Take a look at this article: http://www.foodnavigator-usa.com/Science-Nutrition/Low-fat-diets-could-increase-heart-disease-risk-say-nutrition-experts/

If the American Dietetic Association is flipping on low-fat diets, I'd say that signals the beginning of the end (hat tip to the Hold the Toast blog). Still waiting for Dean Ornish to jump out tell us we've been punk'd.

Also check out the Fat Head take on the Twinkie diet. Nice analysis of the food logs.

The article also says that the science suggest that replacing saturated fat with unsaturated fat will lower heart disease risk so I don't think they get it quite yet.

The more dogmatic the belief, the harder it is to shake out of people's heads. Hard to find anything more dogmatic than the whole saturated fat business, so it may take awhile for that to die.

Nonetheless, acknowledging that replacing fat by carbs is bad is a pretty big step.

So now we get to go from a carb based obesity epidemic to a PUFA one.

There is one thing good. I'm a ketosis Prone type 2 diabetic and we have serious problems with carbs. We can tolerate PUFA's a lot better.

Pick your poison.

@Michael Barker,

"Pick your poison": I pick bacon :-) Or my new favorite treat, cold tri-tip dipped in melted butter. Better than lobster.

Hey, I saw your comment on the whole health source about your daughters tooth crater. I've got a 3 y old who's had strong teeth until the past few months, and she now has a crater in one of her molars. I give her clo, but not enough i'm sure.
How much clo and butter oil did you give your daughter, and how long did it take for you to see improvements in her tooth? Thanks for your comment you posted there- it gives me hope!

@Elizabeth

I gave her 5 ml of the Blue Ice Gold from Green Pastures. I don't think they sell the product I used anymore, which was good because I mixed in the goat milk she had before bed. You wouldn't think a kid would like CLO in milk, but if I ever left it out, she would come back and complain. I also gave her a 2000 IU Vitamin D drop.
